Hagg Wood

The walk in (and out of) Hagg Wood can spring some surprises. An early orange tip butterfly, obligingly, stopped to take in the afternoon sunshine.

I find the buds on this hawthorn almost as exciting as the flowers themselves. It is in the promise and potential of the beauty within.

A little further along the track the crab apple tree demonstrates this very thing with an exciting and glorious show of colour. On my return journey and rather more modestly, another of this species exhibits a similar but more modest beauty within the context of a neatly clipped hedge.
