Hagg Wood
Added on 5th April 2017 by Audrey Barnes
Season: Spring
Woodland: Hagg Wood
The Stitchwort was in flower in the hedgerow on the way to the wood, not yet within the wood.
There is evidence of active deer in the wood.
[The Dog’s-mercury photograph is of a male flower. They have separate male and female plants which can usually be found in separate clumps. The male flower is held high above the leaves and so is much easier to see; the female flower is usually hidden amongst the leaves.]
