Whitecliff and Clarkson’s Woods

Season:
Woodland:

The post industrial area surrounding Clarkson’s Wood which  largely consists of ‘slag’ is being regenerated by plants.

Close to the viaduct is a Goat Willow, usually seen as a bush, which has grown into a huge tree.

Oak, gorse, Broome, Hazel, Apple, Crab Apple, Briar Rose and Hawthorn and Birch have seeded into the slag.

A Native Spindle with bright pink berries and orange seeds has grown along side the Viaduct. This is a rarity in the area as it likes chalky ground.
