[the emerging fronds of the fern Hart’s-tongue, a seedling of Herb-Robert growing amongst the moss on a rotten log – the seedlings turn red when they are stressed, and I think this is the liverwort Pellia neesiana which can be easily seen growing on the wet rock face just before the first boardwalk, Lords-and-Ladies (or Cuckoo Pint) flowers are quite variable in colour and so it’s worth looking out for the more unusually coloured ones like this one.]
