- The remains of an old oak that once arched over the gill, but the bank underneath it was washed away by recent winter rains.

Woodland: Saltburn Gill
The Beck at Saltburn Gill turned orange in 1999 as a result of an overspill from an adjacent abandoned ironstone mine. Recent treatment works have removed the iron pollution and the wildlife of the beck is steadily returning.
