Could it be that Saltburn Gill, being so close to the sea, makes me see associated shapes in the unfurling ferns?
The hart’s tongue fern are waves turning over. The hard shield fern gives the impression of sea horses emerging from the dog’s mercury and the golden-scaled male-fern is just an octopus. Or maybe it is the wine speaking?
