Spring Woodland Pics
[The second photo shows the roots of a Wych Elm tree that was growing in shallow soil by the beck and has been washed over, probably in the bad flood we had a couple of years ago that washed the bridges away. The tree is still very much alive and we saw it the branches covered with seeds as we walked along the path. The third photo is Oak apple gall, a gall caused by by a tiny gall wasp, Biorhiza pallida. High up in the tree canopy they really did look like apples too. Speckled Wood Butterfly sunning itself.]
