Hagg Wood

Season:
Woodland:

Deeper within the wood things are waking up.

I love the way that the wood sorrel leaves fold so neatly while they await lifting of the light. They will awaken alongside their flowers at the first hint of dappled sunlight.

The wood speedwell, with its long gangly stems, pops up occasionally and demonstrates its humble beauty.

Two crane flies ensure the emergence of the next generation.

Wood avens happily occupy the damp margins around the stream but are in ample evidence in many damp spots throughout this wood.
